Dreamcatcher Workshop

Presented by Indigenous Experiences
The Indigenous people believed the night air is filled with dreams, both good and bad. The dreamcatcher, when hung over or near your bed and swinging freely in the air, catches the dreams as they flow by. The good dreams know how to pass through the dreamcatcher, slipping through the outer holes and slide down the soft feathers so gently, that many times the sleeper does not know that he/she is dreaming. The bad dreams, not knowing the way, get tangled in the dreamcatcher and perish with the first light of the new day.

In this kit you will be making a dreamcatcher.
Kit includes:
1 leather lace, 1 brass ring, 1 sinew (string), 1 yellow bead, 1 red bead,
1 black, bead, 1 white bead, 2-4 feathers.

Paint Night with Simon Brascoupe

Have fun painting an Algonquin Moose with Simon Brascoupé, an internationally known Algonquin artist as inspired by his 5-meter red Algonquin Moose sculpture located at Pimisi Station, Ottawa, Ontario. Simon's Workshop takes place on:
June 10 at 7:00 - 8:00 pm

You can download Simon's instructions for the workshop here:
Red Moose Paint night Instructions

Please Note:
It is suggested that participants should paint their background ahead of time so it can dry before the workshop. The background will dry in a few hours if you don't put too much paint on. Mix a little bit of yellow paint in your white paint, but not too much. Paint the background of the canvas. The white layer is over white canvas - it helps with the application of the actual image. Artists can paint the image directly on the canvas without the extra layer but it creates a better finished work if you follow all the steps.
