La musique et les artistes autochtones étaient à l’honneur, mardi soir, au Centre national des arts.
Pour l’occasion, on remettait 16 prix Solstice d’été pour la musique autochtone (SÉMA).
Pendant deux heures, on a mis en lumière le talent et les réalisations des musiciens inuits, métis et des Premières Nations de tout le Canada.
The 2023 Summer Solstice Indigenous Music Awards took place at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa on June 6, and recent Juno nominee Aysanabee took home three awards, leading the evening’s wins. The Oji-Cree musician, who released his debut album, Watin, last year, won in the categories of pop/alternative/rock album of the year, artistic video for “We Were Here,” and rising star.
Saskatoon-based country musician Jarrid Poitras, who performs as Jarrid Lee, is among the nominees for this year’s Summer Solstice Indigenous Music Awards. His 2021 album It’s Time is up for Country Album of the Year.
The Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival today announced nominees for The SSIMAs, (Summer Solstice Indigenous Music Awards) presented by TD Bank Group. Winners will be celebrated and honoured in Ottawa during the awards ceremony at the National Arts Centre on Tuesday, June 6th, 2023.
