Begin your experience with a powerful Welcome Song, setting the tone for a day of celebration and learning. Throughout the event, enjoy artist activations featuring live demonstrations, storytelling, and interactive sessions that bring Indigenous culture to life. Connect with the artists, their traditions, and the spirit behind their creations.

Explore the First Peoples Hall with self-guided tours and engaging live demonstrations. These activations offer an enriching opportunity to learn about Indigenous cultures through interactive experiences, traditional practices, and storytelling. Discover the resilience, diversity, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples in a dynamic and meaningful way.

The Cultural Showcase at the Grand Hall Stage features two captivating performances. Sunsdrum, an Inuit throat-singing duo, shares the mesmerizing vocal artform rooted in Inuit tradition, creating rhythmic and harmonic sounds that echo the land and stories of the North. Métis performer Brad Lafortune brings energy and pride to the stage with his vibrant jigging, showcasing the joy, resilience, and unique cultural identity of the Métis people. Each 30-minute set offers a powerful celebration of Indigenous culture.

Enjoy Storytelling & Pow Wow Dance performances in both English and French, brought to life by Indigenous Experiences’ talented performers. These engaging showcases blend traditional stories with dynamic dance, offering an authentic and educational glimpse into Indigenous cultures for audiences of all ages.

Inuit Games will be explained and demonstrated, giving children the opportunity to try their hand at traditional Inuit activities. This interactive experience allows young participants to engage in cultural learning, practicing physical skills while discovering the history and significance of these games in Inuit culture.

School groups attending SSIF Education Day enjoy engaging cultural programming and also have time to explore the Canadian Museum of History. Students can discover fascinating exhibits, learn about Canada’s diverse heritage, and experience history in an interactive and memorable way as part of their enriching visit.
