Share oral histories and stories about the Native Ponies with artist Rhonda Snow. The Trail of the Native Ponies takes us on a journey back in time when the ponies lived out under the stars. The story takes a winding path with a girl called Ikwe to find the ponies she had heard stories of as a young girl. The trail she follows is not found in libraries, barns or stalls. 11:00AM | AUTHOR’S READING WITH SUNSHINE TENASCO – NIBI’S WATERSONG
Nibi is the Anishinaabemowin word for water. In Nibi’s Water Song , an Indigenous girl goes on a search for clean water to drink. Though she is faced with repeated obstacles, Nibi’s joyful and determined energy becomes a catalyst for change and action as her community, and then in widening circles the country and government, rally around her to make clean drinking water available for all. Perfect for young readers. Written by Sunshine Tenasco, an Anishinabeg entyrepreneur, mother and activist for clean water and original artwork illustrations by Chief Lady Bird.
